Flim Screening.

The "Films and Cocktails" series engage our audiences in exclusive event settings. The films are selected specifically to spread awareness of water issues from a global perspective. They capture audience attention and inform us about the world water crisis while emphasizing the global impact of local action.

  • FLOW: For Love of Water
  • BLUE GOLD: World Water Wars

Films Screened So Far.

The films not only help identify the problem, they give viewers a look at the people and institutions providing practical solutions to the water crisis. Solutions include developing new technologies which are fast becoming blueprints for a successful global and economic turnaround on the issue. These films also encourage awareness of our own water resources, the local watershed and water supply that each of us depends on; understanding who owns it, who controls it, and how it is or is not protected. These core questions encourage us to explore the problem that experts have labeled as the most important political and environmental issue of the 21st Century - The World Water Crisis.

World Water Week Proclamation.

Surge also educates the community at large through special events. A great example is the WORLD WATER WEEK PROCLAMATION by Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak. This event included an introduction to World Water Week by Surge Co-Founder Ummul Banin Yamani, followed with a proclamation from Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak that declared Sunday March 22nd, 2009 as "World Water Day". A panel discussion kicked off a week-long campaign to raise awareness of the world water crisis, where various restaurants and bars in Minneapolis accepted donations for tap water in lieu of bottled water.
